SINGING FOR ACTORS

Singing for Actors is a dynamic, three-level program designed to strengthen your voice and build a powerful, versatile audition repertoire. Guided by former Berklee instructor Luz Bermejo, you will embark on a transformative journey of vocal discovery, technical mastery, and artistic expression using techniques drawn from professional opera and musical theatre training.

Whether you're a beginner or an experienced performer, this program will help you:

  • Develop a strong, healthy, and sustainable vocal technique

  • Expand your vocal range, agility, and musicality

  • Improve breath control, projection, and vocal stamina

  • Elevate your confidence in auditions, callbacks, and onstage performances

  • Strengthen your ear training and interpretation skills

  • Gain access to a wider range of roles across theatre, film, and musical projects

  • Understand how to connect your voice to your acting, emotion, and storytelling

By the end of the program, you’ll have a competitive vocal toolkit that empowers you to audition for more diverse opportunities—and confidently step into the world of music-driven performance.

bEGINNER SINGING 

Choir Singing Together

VOCAL FOUNDATION & ARTISTIC AWARENESS

This level builds the essential groundwork for healthy, sustainable singing. Students learn fundamental vocal technique, breath support, posture, and alignment while developing confidence and body–voice connection. Through simple vocal exercises, introductory repertoire, and practical ear-training drills, actors begin to understand how their voice works and how to use it safely. By the end of this level, students will have a small but strong repertoire and the foundational tools needed to move into more expressive musical and dramatic work.

Intermediate singing

Technique, Range & Performance Development

In this level, singers deepen their technical skills and expand their vocal range, agility, and resonance. Students work on more demanding musical selections, apply acting techniques to their singing, and strengthen their musical interpretation and stylistic versatility. Emphasis is placed on breath management, vocal stamina, and blending emotion with precise technique. By completing this level, actors will have a polished audition repertoire and the confidence to perform competitively in a variety of musical styles.

ADVANCED Singing

Opera Singer

Mastery, Artistry & Professional Audition Readiness

The advanced level is designed for performers ready to achieve full artistic and technical command. Students refine their vocal precision, explore advanced repertoire across genres, and receive individualized coaching modeled after professional opera and musical theatre standards. This level focuses heavily on audition technique, callback preparation, emotional storytelling, stylistic nuance, and sustained vocal excellence. Upon completion, actors graduate with a competitive vocal portfolio, industry-ready audition cuts, and the mastery required to step into music-driven roles across theatre, film, and live performance.

Luz Bermejo

Coach/Singer

Luz Bermejo is a vocal technique teacher with more than three decades of experience training singers and actors in Mexico and the United States. Her deep background in music and classical singing—combined with her artistic work in Mexican and Latin American popular music—allows her students to build a solid, healthy, and versatile vocal technique adaptable to any genre.
She has taught at Berklee College of Music, the Extension Division Program at The Boston Conservatory, and CEUVOZ, where she has served as Director of the Voice Department. Her approach blends classical foundations with contemporary expressiveness, making her an ideal guide for actors who need vocal flexibility and stylistic range.
